Alpine Golfer
Blood and graphite on paper
230 x 150 cm
2020
In Alpine Golfer (2020), the human figure appears almost fragile against the immensity of the mountains, a solitary gesture of sport unfolding in a world of sublime silence. Executed in blood and graphite on paper, the work confronts the tension between the intimate pulse of life and the timeless immobility of nature.
The golfer, etched in crimson, stands in stark contrast to the monumental greys of the alpine landscape. His swing, ephemeral and precise, collides with the eternity of peaks drawn in graphite haze. The red of the body — life, passion, sacrifice — seems almost to bleed into the snow-washed ridges, an act of defiance or communion with forces greater than himself.
Here, play becomes ritual, movement becomes prayer. The alpine horizon, infinite and indifferent, bears witness to human striving: a fleeting arc of motion, a line traced in air, destined to vanish as quickly as it appears.
Alpine Golfer is not only an homage to nature’s grandeur, but also a meditation on human ambition and fragility — the eternal attempt to leave a mark upon a landscape that will always remain.
